Investco promoted the archaeological rescue of archaeological sites in the area affected by the reservoir. The program lasted for six years, between 1998 and 2003, and it registered more than 300 sites, being defined as lithic, ceramic, shelters, historical and rock engravings.

As a result of these activities, several postgraduate studies were produced with themes related to recoveries, which, in addition to contributing to the further academic development of students and universities involved, bring qualitative gains to the program.

The acquis collected during the project period was placed under the temporary custody of the Museum of Archeology and Ethnology of the University of São Paulo (abbreviated in Portuguese as MAE - USP). This institute performed the rescue work and returned it to Tocantins State, under the custody of the Nucleus of Archaeological Studies (abbreviated in Portuguese as NUTA), a foundation of the University of Tocantins (abbreviated in Portuguese as UNITINS), installed in Porto Nacional, where the material is currently available to students and researchers. Improvements, equipment, and furniture to treat and accommodate the material rescued were deployed with resources made possible by Investco.
